The number of visitors to the 2006 Helsinki Boat Afloat Show increases by almost a quarter
The number of visitors to the 2006 Helsinki Boat Afloat Show increases by almost a quarter to reach an all-time high of 18,958. Boating activities of growing interest to more Finns than ever.
During four days of exceptionally sunny weather, the Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show, organised for the ninth time at yacht club HSK, attracted a record 18,958 visitors. The previous record, which was achieved in 2005, was exceeded by a remarkable 23%. This year's show featured almost 300 boats and a record 139 exhibitors. The boat show is organised annually by the Finnish Marine Industries Federation Finnboat.
Statistics for the first half of this year indicate that both boat sales and outboard engine sales continue to rise. Initial comments by both motorboat- and yacht traders and feedback from the show confirm that, in common with the practice in previous years, buyers are prepared to make their purchasing decisions in good time and quickly. Current marine industry forecasts indicate that 2006 will be the twelfth consecutive year of growth in terms of sales.
