The Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show 19-22.8. August, 2010
The Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show will be held during the period 19-22.08.2010 in the marina of Helsingfors Segelklubb (HSK) in the capital's suburb of Lauttasaari (Vattuniemen puistotie 1, 00210 Helsinki). Altogether, 39 yachts and 245 small craft and motorboats will be on display, moored to five separate jetties and on land stands. Boat accessories, engines and equipment are on display at 85 stands. Organised at HSK for the thirteenth time, the show has established itself as the nation's most important floating-boat show. It is also the country's most important event for exhibiting sailboats.
The land-based exhibition stands and equipment tents will display about 2500 square meters of marine-industry equipment and services. The number of exhibitors is 140. In 2009, there were altogether 14 116 visitors to the show.
In addition to boat and equipment displays, the show will feature also peripheral events. These include the already familiar displays by Helsinki Police Department and the Finnish Lifeboat Association. The Finnish Boating Association will organise a Knot school for children. For 10th time, the test drives will again be organised by Kippari magazine. During the show the public will have an opportunity to test drive some of the motorboats on display.
The Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show can easily be reached by public transport (City buses 21V, 65A and 66A). On Saturday, there is free bus service available, departing at 20-minute intervals and on Sunday at half-hour intervals from the front of the Kiasma Museum of Modern Art in the centre of Helsinki between 9.30 and 17.00.
