Boating industry and trade records clear growth in 2010

Some 66% of Finnboat's member enterprises forecast a further increase in turnover for 2011. Thirty percent indicated an intention to increase their workforce. Total net sales for Finnboat members in 2010 was EUR 503,7 million, representing a growth of 20,2% over the previous year (VAT 0%, based on ex-factory and import prices).

Domestic boat sales

By the close of 2010, turnover for boat trading on the domestic market had clearly increased to EUR 123,9 million (+ 26,8%). Based on wholesale delivery statistics for small craft and motorboats, the situation in unit terms was as follows:

The statistics are based on figures supplied by enterprises that take part in Finnboat's small craft and motorboat delivery statistics.

Based on information supplied by enterprises, the total number of sailboats (i.e. over 21 feet) sold in Finland was 78, exactly the same number as for 2009. Imported boats continue to dominate the sailboat market with a share of more than 90%. Most boats sold were in the 34-40 foot range (i.e. 29 boats).
